The EU ETS is limited by a 'cap' on the number of emission allowances. Within the cap, companies receive or buy emission allowances, which they can trade as needed. The cap decreases every year, ensuring that total emissions fall.

2010 / 11 P&I + FDD International Group Club General Increases
Most importantly this new year from 20 February 2010 each club will retain the first USD8m of each claim before it is pooled among the clubs in the International Group. This is an increase from the current retention of USD7m.
All Clubs, other than the Shipowners Club, will reflect in P&I premiums the changes in Club's Group reinsurance cost in addition.
Adjustments for loss records, if necessary, will further apply at all Clubs.
Britannia, Gard, North, Swedish, Skuld, UK and West also ask for certain increases on P&I deductible levels in general.
North and Standard also ask for certain increases on FDD deductibles in general.
